What is your role at SilverEdge?

I am the Founder and CEO. One of our valued and beloved clients said it best, as CEO “I chart the future of our firm”. I believe this is done through strategic guidance to not only our clients but our valued team in their professional development. I have always been a tenacious person, officially beginning this journey April Fool’s Day of 1988 leveraging technology to improve business and personal life.

What is your favorite thing about SilverEdge?

Working with our talented, brilliant team and caring clients. They’re a delight to work with and support. In a consulting role we have so many opportunities to support our clients, some that have been with us for 20+ years.

What gets you up in the morning?

Technology is a gift that benefits our lives. To quote one of my favorite books, Gift of the Red Bird, “You treat a gift differently than you do a possession”. Knowing I have the opportunity to identify and utilize that gift for others is wonderful.

Favorite hobbies?

My husband and I make happy birthday videos that includes everything from dancing to music to props and a special guest appearance of my mom through Facetime! Gotta love the power of technology! I also love spending time on the water, swimming, hiking, family time, and did I mention I love the water.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?

In 8th grade I sold the most donuts in my school, going door to door. I guess my competitive side came out a little bit. I also didn’t learn English until the summer before kindergarten.

Favorite quote?
“There are things you do because they feel right and they may make no sense and they may make no money and it may be the real reason we are here: to love each other and to eat each other’s cooking and say it was good”. – Brian Andreas

Why did you choose this career path?

It kind of happened by default. I was working with the kinds of systems people use today in restaurants where orders are put into the computer and it prints off at the bar and kitchen, then they collect the money and reconcile it making it more efficient. I implemented that system at a hotel in 1982 and got excited and passionate about technology. The rest is history!

What inspires you?

I believe there should be more music in business. Music is a wonderful way to tell a story and a communication tool unlike any other. One of my favorites which pulls me into the story is Second Chance by Miten. I believe in the power of music so much that I love bringing musicians to client luncheons.
