Details: Because our clients and friends are professional services firms, like us, and share similar challenges we've decided to host a series of events and create a venue where likeminded professionals can share best practices and develop relationships.

This event focused on "Turning Insights into Results for Your Business – Using Metrics in the Service of Improving Professional Services Firms’ Performance and Growth".

SilverEdge and a distinguished panel of experts: Andrew Dietz, Managing Partner, Creative Growth Group, Andy Christenson, Channel Manager, Deltek, Kathy Krejci, CFO, Treasury Strategies and Robert Philpott, CEO, Synovate, discussed the significance of metrics: how Professional Services Firms can go about effectively tracking and measuring various activities and use the data to support and grow their business.

“Turning Insights in Results for Your Professional Service Firms” Session Summary:

Post-recession professional services firm leaders increasingly expect to make fact-based decisions and measure the results and financial return of their initiatives. That’s driven several important shifts like revenue and pipeline reporting being utilized as a proactive tool and a move from tracking administrative operational metrics to tracking value added to clients’ businesses.

There are many challenges in managing PSF’s with metrics in mind: from the objectives driving the effort (i.e. used as political weapon, functional credibility), processes (“dashboarding” vs. “waterboarding”) & management (narrow focus on few and very specific metrics), to presentation and interpretation. However, there are multiple opportunities with that strategy as well.

The results of the 2010 Deltek’s sponsored SPI report is another evidence cementing the key point of this session that management by intuition has been replaced by management by intelligence and insight in the current professional services firm. Business intelligence, benchmarks, metrics and performance data are now essential tools to manage the firm and to support growth.
